“And Moses said, …… But if the Lord creates something new, and the ground opens its mouth, and swallows these men up, with all that belongs to them, and they go down alive into Sheol, then you shall know that these men have despised the Lord. And as he finished speaking all these words, the ground under them split asunder; and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and all the men that belonged to Korah and all their goods. So they and all that belonged to them went down alive into Sheol; and the earth closed over them” (Num 16: 18-33)
And so the Lord opened up the earth to swallow Korah, Dathan, Abiram and On with the two hundred and fifty leaders of the congregation that were with them, and their households and possessions.
Verse one to two says “Korah the son of Izhar, son of Kohath, son of Levi, and Dathan and Abi’ram the sons of Eli’ab, and On the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men; and they rose up before Moses, with a number of the people of Israel, two hundred and fifty leaders of the congregation, chosen from the assembly, well-known men; and they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron”
Those that rose up against Moses and Aaron were not ordinary men, but formidable ones. They were not opposition that could just be ignored, but those that could bring a government down.
Isn’t it true that we are faced with problems, challenges and adversity in our day to day lives? Yes, I’m talking about formidable issues; bankruptcy, foreclosure, terminal illness, redundancy, business collapse, unknown illness, divorce, liquidation, debts, child issues, barrenness, or even death of a close relative…..
Koran, Dathan and Abiram represented a major problem. They represented issues that leave indelible marks on our lives whenever they decide to show up.
What do you do when you don’t know what to do?
What do you do when you don’t even know HOW to come out of IT?
What do you do when IT is too daunting to even think about it?
And HOW do you react to IT, when you don’t even know IF you’ll ever be able to overcome IT?
“When Moses heard it, he fell on his face” (v.4)
Moses cried to the Lord. He went to God with a big basket of tears and petitions.
Why worry about WHAT you can’t fix?
Why have sleepless nights when sleep is the exact thing you need?
Why try to figure out something that is beyond you?
Phil4:6 says “Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
“And Moses was very angry…”(v.15)
Moses was filled with a holy anger and the anger spurred him on to decree what he had never decreed before.
Sometimes you have to stop being nice in the spirit realm and become violent in order to have major breakthroughs
Matt 11:12 says “From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and men of violence take it by force.”
Sometimes it takes spiritual violence to obtain the unobtainable and annihilate the violent opposition
Are you angry enough to want it by all means or are you happy for the enemy to take its time and do what he likes with your destiny?
“and he said …… But if the Lord creates something new” (v.31)
If a new thing that has never happened before happens, Moses said….
Sometimes you have to place a demand on God that you’ve never done before.
If the challenge is a new thing, don’t fight it with the weapons of old, but take new weapons and fight a new way.
Are you ready to employ new tactics to destroy the enemy or are you still going to use the tactics he has now mastered over time?
(v.31) “And as he finished speaking all these words, the ground under them split asunder”
As Moses finished speaking, while he was still fixated on the issue and while he was still pondering about IT, God began to do a new thing.
When you pray, do you believe that it will be so, or do you just do lip service?
Do you believe in the power of the spoken word or do you just speak and hope that something may happen?
Hebrew 11 says Faith is the confident assurance of things hoped for, the definite certainty of things yet to come.
Are you confident it will happen?
Are you assured it is done?
Are you certain that it is settled?
The rebellion of Korah, Dathan, Abiram and On was crushed with God’s show of force on Moses’ behalf. And Once again, the man Moses was exalted in the eyes of all, causing the enemy within and without to fear him even more as their hearts melted at the supreme backing by God.
Why does God allow us go through these big challenges?
God will let you go through the big challenges so that when you come out, your testimony will be so big, it’ll confound your critics and keep the enemy at bay.
He would allow IT, so as to make your belief stronger when you come out at the end of IT.
So what is it that you’re passing through?
Are you ready to hand it to God for solution?
PRAYER
Lord expose every hidden Dathans, Dathans, Abirams and Ons, travelling with me on my journey to destiny.
Shake the foundations of my world and swallow every curse, covenant, opposition and familiar problems holding back my life and purpose.
Lord dissolve every formidable opposition against me from the kingdom of darkness
Every power or principality that is questioning my greatness and legacy, Lord answer them on my behalf in Jesus name.
Every evil opposition and power attacking my dreams of greatness, my visions and mission, lord let them be sacrificed for my dreams and visions to become a reality.
O Lord Swallow every problem of my life for me in Jesus name.
O Lord Let the earth open up and devour every single problem and challenges that I may be facing right now.
Lord put an end to the Dathan, Koran, Abiram and On waging war against my destiny in Jesus name.
Let the undertakers of heaven begin to bury every problem holding me back from fulfilling potential in Jesus name.
Lord use every opposition to advance my cause and my life in Jesus name
I shall use my enemies as stepping stones for progress in Jesus name
Every voice rising up to sentence me for evil, Lord silence them in Jesus name.
Lord let the earth open up and swallow all problems hindering my progress in Jesus name.
O Lord fight for me and let me see casualties in Jesus name.
